I’m not going to lie, when I was approached to shoot a gender reveal party, I hesitated. It didn’t seem very “me.” I have so many feelings on gender and how we over invest in it. I’ll let Martie cover that though.
But as Sarah explained more, I just melted.
You know what a party like this means? It’s a gathering of the most cherished loved ones who are just overjoyed to support a couple as they become parents. They would rather get photos of their family and friends preparing for their new arrival than a basic maternity session of mama’s belly. Umm, yes. GIVE ME A TICKET TO THIS!
When I arrived, the house was bustling with the aromas of someone who KNEW what was up in the kitchen. Their home was decorated just beautifully. The party concluded with the opening of a giant box containing a pair of balloons confirming the gender of their little peanut.
Mom and dad had been originally told it was a boy and even purchased a few little outfits. But there had been some question as to whether that original prediction was correct so the anticipation was even greater than usual.
Photos of their sweet newborn baby follow the reveal at the bottom. I won’t spoil the surprise. <3
