As much as I’d like to admit that external validation is unimportant, it matters. At least every once in a while.

I believe in the work I’m doing with every image I create. However, each year I set a few goals for myself. This year, those goals included shooting more film at client sessions, learning to fine tune my metering skills, and getting work published in Let the Kids Dress Themselves blog.

And as of last Wednesday, check. You can see the feature here. Here are a few of the images you might find.

It’s as exciting for me as receiving a promotion at work would be, or having a major life event like a wedding or birth. I was on cloud nine for days and it was a nice balance to the emotional stress a group of friends and I were facing while we successfully helped our friend leave her abuser.

The last few weeks have been very up and down. One day, I’m distraught reading articles about Syrian refugees. The next, I’m baking cookies with my kids and relishing their babyhood. Then it’s a few days of migraines. But being stuck on the couch means buying Santa presents on Amazon a real joy! (We are keeping it simple this year with the four gift “something to wear, something to read, something you want, and something you need.” My 3 year old wants this because it’s the coolest truck in the whole world. I got my little guy this book by The Office writer BJ Novak.)

This week I’m compiling my top 25 images so that I can have them out to you for all of December!
