When I daydream about finding new clients in the Raleigh area, there are many kinds of families that come to mind–those that really want a playful portrait experience, those that need the expertise of an “interior decorator photographer” to get their photos in the living room, and those who need the extra push to make sure their images don’t live as little pixels on a CD for the rest of eternity. I’ve got them covered.

But the ones that have been saving up their pennies and dreaming of their first “real” photoshoot? Yeah, those are the ones that get me so gosh darn excited, I’m afraid I will scare them off the phone! They tend to appreciate each and every detail of the process because it’s the first time they have worked with a photographer. They tend to be the most nervous on session day but relax faster than anyone else. Luckily, I didn’t scare Allison away the afternoon we chatted. She asked just the right questions and later that day, we had all of the official stuff out of the way.

Allison and Jon met at Mordecai Historic Park as the sun was rising and had clearly had their coffee! There wasn’t another person in sight! They were flexible as I tried new ideas (some worked and some didn’t), affectionate, and great sports when their little companion, Sam, had a few romps in the mud that ended up on Jon’s shirt.

You know that feeling of satisfaction you get when you wake up extra early and accomplish something huge before everyone else gets out of bed? We had that times ten. Here are some of my favorites from their session!
